The book launch of the recently published SAC hiking guide “Family excursions to SAC huts” will take place on May 24, 2019 at 7 pm in the Haslital platform in Meiringen. The SAC section Oberhasli and author Heidi Schwaiger invite all those interested to read, followed by an aperitif and book sales.
Do you know the recipe for a successful hiking trip with children? This includes varied trails, visiting a SAC hut and plenty of time for exploring the surrounding area, for wildlife viewing, climbing rocks and bathing in a mountain lake. If the hike is not too long, you spend the night in the hut and the descent takes place the next day, the hike will be an unforgettable experience for young and old.
The recently published SAC book "Family Excursions to SAC Huts" describes 41 hikes with children all over Switzerland that are suitable for newcomers to hiking and returning. Moderate difficulties, a maximum of three hours of boarding and a safe hut environment were the criteria according to which the author chose the accommodations. Some hikes are already possible with kindergarten children; Older children and experienced adults get their money's worth with short wire rope passages or in the climbing garden near the hut. The present book makes the hike a breeze: the highlights on the way are shown on the map and described in detail. Many huts have an alternative descent route, sometimes even a simple summit goal. A service section provides a quick overview for each hut, and parents can find motivational tips and game ideas on the go. Additional information on flora, fauna, geology and history as well as many colored photos complete the new publication.
The book, published a few days ago, celebrates its vernissage on May 24, 2019 in Meiringen: the SAC section Oberhasli and author Heidi Schwaiger invite you to the reading at 7 p.m. in the Haslital platform, Alpbachstrasse 7, in Meiringen, followed by an aperitif. If you like, you can buy the book on site at a discounted SAC member price.
